Spring in Louisiana 2009

Here are the azaleas in bloom (not in our yard although similar) and the irises in our yard.

DeRidder High School had an Up With People concert. They brought all of their own equipment and turned our stage into a Broadway Musical production. This group comes to places all over the world and they have young people from 90 countries and they do service projects and then this show. The money the show makes goes back into the community. They have been around for over 40 years. We actually filled our auditorium!

Hal Holbrook as Mark Twain

Is this cool or what? Tuesday, I went with Mrs. Shirley's English classes (someone dropped out) to the Lutcher Theater in Orange, TX (a wonderful facility I'd never been to) and got to see Hal Holbrook's famous Mark Twain one man show. He will be 85 next week and he's been playing Mark Twain since he was in his thirties.

This is the set, three Persian rugs a chair, table, and a lecturn. Stage lights really make a terrific picture.

These are my Valentine flowers from Ted delivered three days early so that I could have them at school.

I'm trying to do a Rosalia here and take a self-portrait. At least Igot most of me in the picture.

This is what I've been doing lately, school, school, school! This is my seventh hour speech class working on discussion groups.

Sunday, Mary Jones and her daughter Holly and grandaughter Rachel surprised us with a visit! Holly showed me how to get on Facebook so I joined and now I have lots of "friends" :) Actually I wanted to see how Rosalia was doing since she never updates her blog.

Our Newly Engaged Couple

Taber liked this picture so I thought he wouldn't mind. This is at the park honoring the army at Ft. Polk.

Rebecca and Taber

Cindy and Kimberly took Rebecca and Taber out for a photo shoot. They took lots of pictures, but I just uploaded a few. They probably want to pick out their own, but I couldn't resist sharing some of these.
Somewhere in the park.

This one is at our courthouse in Beauregard Parish.

The building in the background is known as "The Hanging Jail" and is an historical landmark next to the courthouse.

This is an old peeling building. Artistically, I liked the irregular rhythm of the peeling red paint.

Sunny days and Goodbyes

After almost a week of rain, rain, and more rain, we finally had some sunny days. Bridger and McKay are getting ready to go watch soccer.
Bridger caught a skink. He must love critters!

Bethany and Rich get ready to head out to Houston and home.

Saying good-bye to the Haddock family. Halli and Maddi with Rosalia and Grandma in the background.
