A look at the inside

Here is a look at the inside of the addition. It's hard to see, but the picture with the boarded up wall is actually what's left of the window seat in the fifth bedroom. This is where the short hallway will go into the addition. The next picture with the yellow scaffold is of the kitchen. It is like a galley kitchen with the laundry area at the back. A back door goes out on the right and a door to the bathroom on the left. There is also a picture of the bay window by the right kitchen wall where the dining room table will go. The last picture with all of the construction junk is the living room. You can see through the wall to the small office and closet that form an L off the bedroom. All that's left that I haven't pictured is the bedroom, large closet and the bathroom. It's about 900 square feet. The shingles have been delivered. Your dad is going to get the floor tile this week from Houston and we'll order the doors and windows tomorrow. The brick should be delivered in two or three weeks and after the windows and doors are installed then the brick will be put up. Your dad is also going to Austin for conference this weekend and the Beauregard Parish Fair is this week so we have Friday off.

The roof goes up

And the roof goes up on the new place. Tomorrow they hope to get the rest of the plywood up with the tar paper. It is supposed to rain this weekend and we'll see where the new tropical depression/storm/hurricane will go.

Foundation of the new addition

Cement Pumper Truck

New Addition in DeRidder

Construction and Honors

Construction on Ted's mother's apartment has finally commenced. The foundation has been poured along with an adjoining patio. Framing was delayed by Hurricane Humberto, but it should get going next week ( Sept. 17-21). I am working hard at school. I just received the Beauregard Parish High School Teacher of the Year award at the recent Beauregard School Board meeting. My prinicpal said some nice things about me to the board. They also honored all of the school nominees and the Junior High and Elementary Parish Teachers of the Year. I don't have any pictures of that event, but I am trying to upload some construction pictures. Our computer had to be replaced and the new system is harder to use right now.
