This is a hair picture to match the Long's pictures of their childrens' first haircuts on their wall. I was cleaning out drawers and my closet and found the hair I had saved from Rosalia's first haircut when she was ten years old. Yes, I did not have her hair cut until then! You can see the picture of her in the upper left hand corner just before Nancy White cut her hair. We didn't know about Locks of Love then, but when she cut it again in the ninth grade she donated her hair to that organization.

I thought if I followed the numbers straight down on my desk top I would get pictures in order, but that is not the case and I don't want to take them off because blogger can be fickle. This is Rosalia in her bedroom after the honeymoon with her new furniture.

Here is my Christmas tree at home waiting for my sister and her family to come. They hosted the Norton family while we were in Utah.

This was taken at one of Rosalia's final fittings for her wedding dress at Melissa Blackburn's home. Melissa is a dress designer and seamstress who created this remarkable gown.

We visited Janet and Bruce in Houston and got to see Emily, Haley, and my mother in this picture.

For Senior Citizen Day some of my students dressed up like me! I tried to dress like them instead of trying to look old. Here is my Juliet from last year as me and am I glad I took 15 lbs off that derrierre!

This group of my students decided to have the "Badger Bingo" girls and they dressed as me with my daughters! They even put names on the backs of their shirts. The one who was Kimberly forgot to put her name on, but she was still a "Badger Bingo" girl. They are all old ladies here, but for Rosalia to make it to Senior Citizen status I will have to be over 100! The little girl on the far left is Rosalia and she is Mandy Brown's sister, Shelby. Mandy is one of Rosalia's good friends from high school. I even liked the gray jacket my namesake wore.

We took the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty and just to ride across the harbor. Breyton took a picture of me as I took one of him on the ferry going home.

Here is a picture up close. I remember going to see her and climbing up the inside of the statue. I am not sure we went into the arm and I think I was about nine or ten years old.

This is the view from the living room down the stairs to the front door. The bottom floor has a one bedroom apartment, the middle has two bedrooms, and the top three bedrooms. They are on the middle floor. I know Cindy will post more pictures later, but I just had to sneak these in at the beginning of the move.

The brass bed set up in the master bedroom which has a bathroom and then beyond it a very large walk-in closet.

The opposite side of the living room. There is a little porch on the other side of the window behind them. You can see the dining area in the back on the right.

The dining area with a hat for Cindy to wear to the pool. The grounds are very nicely landscaped and the pool looks like it will be fun this summer.

The kitchen is behind Cindy with a pass through. The second bathroom and bedroom are down a hall around the corner to the right. I know they will put up more perfect pictures soon. We had fun visiting and they are only two hours away! Eric has the midget in his little one car garage. He plans to drive it to work so Cindy will have a car.

We went to Eagle's Trace to eat supper with Mom and Dad. Ted had had three of his four days of chemo therapy, but he was feeling fine. Mom's knee was doing better, so she was happy.

Here I am with two and a half week old Gwenivere. She is doing beautifully and I hardly had to help Becca at all except I did get to hold the baby and (don't faint) I did cook supper. Becca did my hair.

The boys did a great job building shelves in the garage. What a great project we should have had done many years ago. Tracy spent the fall cleaning things out. Now it just needs a little more organization and we are done! Thanks for a wonderful Christmas present. We have never seen so much space and Eric even cleaned the floor!

I wanted to post a few pictures of the baby that grew up with me. Born October 7, 1970, here you are just a few months later. I thought that Bethany Badger was the prettiest name of any baby at that time. I felt like a big girl at 23 getting to have a baby.
This is my 24th birthday, Nov. 4, 1971. Your Uncle Bruce sent the flowers. He was courting your Aunt Janet at the time. Now you are just over a year old. Now I've had a year to learn to take care of you, myself, your father, and a tiny little Depression Era house.
Here you are in 1972 in your room in our house in North Carolina. You are 2 and expecting a baby sister. Here you taught me how to decorate a little girls room for the first time. Your first room was a closet so that didn't count.
Here we are in 1973. I always liked it that the last digit in the year said how old you were. We are on the Tangle Tower (I have never found another one). You are teaching me how to climb to interesting heights. This is July of 1974 at Nana's home in Beaumont, Texas. You were the little girl who could play with any of your aunts and uncles since they didn't have any children of their own. I was learning to share.
This is part of or vacation in 1976 with Kimberly and baby T.J. You helped me wrangle Kimberly and T.J. in the car. Three children and two adults are unfair odds, but with your help I survived.
Here we are on a ride in Austin, TX in June of 1979. Now there are four Badgers with your little brother Mark. Stephen must be on the way. We are on our way around the park. You were always a good sport about having so many little brothers and sisters.

This is the summer of 1980 at The Pickett House in Texas. You were my right hand girl! I know that sometimes I pushed you very hard, but you tolerated my mistakes and I am grateful for your forgiving nature.
This is 1981 in the backyard of the Beaumont house with your Aunts, grandmother, Kimberly, and cousin Amy. You knew how to take care of your cousin, too.
This is Christmas 1981. How do you like your Uncle Bruce's mustache? You are growing up too fast! You taught me how to set a good example.
Here is our big Ram Van in 1983. Now you are officially a teenager. Your brothers and sisters all look so little! You became another parent with me and your father.
This is Christmas 1983. You growing into such a beautiful young lady! You are catching up to your dad and me.
Easter 1986. You are still 15. I always loved buying dresses for my girls. Here is a picture of my indestructable dress that I must have worn to church every Sunday for three years at least! I preferred buying clothes for you rather than myself. It was more fun dressing a beautiful daughter. I loved playing dress-up.
Now it's Christmas 1987 and you look even more glamorous. I have just had Jessica and I'm hiding behind my mother. Becca was not adjusting too well to the new baby girl. You are a senior and getting ready to graduate in the spring. I liked going through high school as a pretty girl instead of the awkward teenager I remember myself being.

This is probably the spring of 1988 with your Aunt Carolyn. Look at our curly hair!
Off to BYU in the late summer of 1988. I got to play college for a few days. It was very hard to part with you since you were my first baby to leave home. I remember thinking, "I've lived with you almost all of my married life, and now you're going to leave me!"
This is a last glamor shot of us taken in late 1989, I think. It wouldn't be long before you married Rich and began your life with someone else. I was your mother for these first 20 years, and I will always be your mother, but now we have had the opportunity over the past 20 years to be best friends, too. Thanks for raising me so well. I had the privilege of attending the Michigan City Branch Primary talent show and of course my grandchildren were the stars. Brinley did a song from Taylor Swift with her friends complete with choreography and gymnastics.

Paige did a tap dance that she created and it was lots of fun, especially since she is self-taught!

Tanner and his friend did a dance from The Wizard of Oz and they were surprisingly quite good. I was impressed with the fearlessness of their performance.

This was one of the favorites. Bridger and Cooper danced to Kung Foo Panda. Bridger even did the slow motion part at the beginning before he launched into his routine. This is the best one of Bridger, but Cooper has some moves using the bench in the background that were very entertaining.

Above is the third bedroom set up for sewing projects.

This is part of the great room on the left with the stairs to the bedrooms and bathrooms, the door to the garage and the sectional couch.

This is to the right by the back door to the deck on the opposite wall across from the door to the garage. This is the shelf we bought at IKEA. It worked well with Jessica's picture collage. To the right of the bookcase is the entry to the kitchen and also along this wall is the entry to the dining/office room.

This is the back wall of the great room. You can see the rest of the couch (the other part that makes the L). The decorative pillow shams and curtains we sewed in the project room! The back door is just to the right and the garage door on the wall to the left of this picture.

We brought up this chair and ottoman and the side table from our house. It makes a nice chaise lounge to relax with a reading lamp. These are more of the curtains. This picture is of the wall opposite the fireplace and the front door is to the right. The office is to the left. I forgot to take a picture of the office, but Skyler has a nice set up. He even positioned his desk so that he can see through the kitchen doorways straight to the TV in the great room! Jessica will have to post a picture to show you that trick.

I went down for a day and a half, April 16-17, to High Island to visit with my family.

Paul came from London, Carolyn from California, Janet from Maine, David from Houston, me from Louisiana. We had a good visit and I wish I was off for the rest of the week because they are still there! However, I had to make it back to church on Sunday because Ted was set apart as bishop of the Rosepine Ward and I needed to be there! It's been 20 years since he was called to be bishop last.

Phoebe, the only true Norton girl on the island

Phoebe was stranded on the island by the volanic ash from Iceland that literally turned her plane around in the middle of the Atlantic and sent her scuttling for shelter in Texas. When the ash cloud disperses she'll try again to fly home and take her exams. In the meantime she is studying, bird watching, and trying not to be too bored with all of these adults!

Next to her Aunt Carolyn you can see how tall she really is! It was fun getting to know her better. She wants us to have a reunion with all the the kids. And she will be in New York City for an orchestra concert in October. The volcano should have subsided by then.

Ryan Bailey and his family live in Houston. Ryan took his family to Disney World and they were on their way home. His wife is Kiersta and children Hendrix, Farrin, and Errson. I may have misspelled one. This is a great picture and made me realize that I didn't take one of the Fowlers together! Kimberly you need to update your blog, please.

The tree after Christmas, I didn't take a picture on Christmas morning, and it looks like it's leaning or something?

I took all the pictures off the mantle and put up the nativity scene. Here are all the Fowler stockings plus some extras of mine.

Did you know that Mary and Joseph had to use a laundry basket at the laundry mat because there was no room in the motel?

We invited another family over for Christmas Eve in case you think that you notice extra Fowler children. Trevin was in charge and he did a nice job of reading the Christmas story and organizing songs. Then we watched the Church video on Christmas and it was a good ending to our evening.

Bontanical Garden Train show

Breyton, Evie, Jana and I went to the NYC Botanical Gardens to view the trains and the historical buildings from NYC made all of natural materials. The men stayed home to watch football. We did make it back in time to see the last of the BYU game. David said that it was the worst game that BYU didn't lose!

Breyton was fascinated by all the different trains and settings.

Breyton got to do several activities and here is Jana taking a picture of him. I put this in to show Kimberly that Jana loves the wrap she sent.

We really enjoyed Wicked and we had the best seats. I did however realize that theater is just as excellent in Utah or California. Broadway just commands the best price.

Eric and Cindy have a great location and a cute little house. The whole neighborhood is nice and spacious.

Shane was blessed at home on July 11th with just his immediate family. Ted was able to make it and his Uncle Clint arrived just in time from Montana on a motorcycle!

I like this picture because Shane is looking right at his mother. Jessica is a supermom. This baby has gone from 6 lbs 10 oz at birth to 8 lbs 1 oz at his two week check-up!

Organizing Rosalia

Rosalia moved in to her apartment and promptly went on vacation, so when I arrived we spent a day, a night , and a morning re-organizing and decorating her space. I think you can appreciate the difference.

The posters on the wall are of Monets and a French photographer whose name I've forgotten. The black and white contrasted nicely with the impressionistic prints.

Nana and Grandpa Visit in June

I finished six quilts in June. Here is a pattern called "Stack and Whack" or Kalidescope. The roses on the left are Rosalia's graduation quilt and the one on the right is Shane's baby quilt. Jessica requested black, white, and red. This one should have Shane's little eyes twirling!

My parents visited in June on Father's Day and my mother helped me plant flowers. It was nice to have them come over for a short, but relaxing visit.

This is one of the Father's Day shirts I gave Daddy. He received several compliments.
